Photos from the NOIDA section of Delhi Metro’s Blue Line (photos also available on this flickr set), as well as a few photos at the end of this post of the Kaushambi and Vaishali stations on the Vaishali section (photos on this flickr set).

Sweet shop along the metro line. The shape of the house suggestes that it was partially demolished and then rebuilt parallel to the viaduct line

NOIDA Sector 16 station

.

NOIDA Sector 18 station. This station’s name conjures images of access to the swanky malls in Sector 18, but is in fact built adjacent to Atta market, which is decidedly less swanky!

This exit gives more direct access to the malls and surrounding commercial/office buildings

Golf Course station. These last few stations have much greener surroundings than preceding stations

.

NOIDA City Center station

.

NOIDA City Center station parking. Notice the preponderance of two-wheelers and budget four-wheelers, and paucity of larger four-wheelers on the parking lot. Scenes like this are replicated at most metro station parking lots, and suggest the socio-economic makeup of metro ridership. Studies have indicated that most metro ridership comes from erstwhile bus-commuters
